The PANB is the Provincial Archives of New Brunswick, an official government branch. This is really just an index to the records, and includes file numbers, which I have not bothered to reproduce here. I assume that more extensive and perhaps specific information would be available in the full records, which are not available online.
In a search of Marriage records 1896-1900, I found the following entry:
NAME | MARRIED | CO | YEAR | MO | DY |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
FINNAMORE, JOHN H. | MCCREA, FANNIE T. | CA | 1898 | 09 | 29 |
CA is the county code for Carleton, of which Woodstock is the county seat. Now, Fannie's middle name is reportedly Elizabeth1. Nonetheless, it seems hard to believe that two separate John H. FINNAMOREs could have married two separate Fannie McCREAs in the same area at about the same time. Additionally, John and Fannie's first child, Beatrice May, was born in Woodstock on 05 February, 1901 (oddly, one day after Isaac died1), which corresponds nicely with a marriage in September 1898. So the middle initial T may be a data entry error. Alternatively, her middle name might have started with T, and the name Elizabeth been confused, since there are three other Elizabeths in the family in close proximity to her.
In a search of Marriage records 1881-1895, I found the following entry:
NAME | MARRIED | CO | YEAR | MO | DY |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
FINNEMORE, RODERICK ROSS | WHITE, ISABELLA | CA | 1894 | 12 | 12 |
giving me Roderick and Isabel's marriage date. There was also an entry for a FINNEMORE, CHARLIE NELSON married to a FINNEMORE, SARAH MELISSIA in 1893 in Carleton County. I don't know whether or how they are related to us. Probably cousins.
In a search of Death records 1930-1934, I found the following entry:
NAME | CO | YEAR | MO | DY |
---|---|---|---|---|
FINNEMORE, ISABELL E. | CA | 1934 | 11 | 17 |
This corresponds perfectly with a Carleton Sentinal newspaper report.
In a search of Death records 1935-1945, I found the following entries:
NAME | CO | YEAR | MO | DY |
---|---|---|---|---|
FINNAMORE, CHARLES W. | CA | 1939 | 11 | 25 |
FINNAMORE, RODERICK | CA | 1944 | 03 | 09 |
Theses are almost certainly "our" Charles W. and Roderick. This corroborates Charles W.'s date of death as given in Bea's Bible, and gives me his place of death, which I previously inferred to be Minneapolis. Evidently, Charles did not leave New Brunswick after Isaac's death.
In a search of Hutchinson's Directory 1865-1866 I found the following entries:
Last Name | First Name | Occupation |
Street |
Community | County |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Finnemore | W. | joiner | Presbyterian row | Fredericton | York |
Finnemore | I. | joiner | Presbyterian row | Fredericton | York |
"Joiner" is another term for "carpenter." It seems fairly likely that "W." and "I." of Fredericton are William and Isaac, sons of Charles, who was himself a carpenter. This seems especially likely since Isaac is known to have been born there2,6, and lived there as late as 1874 when John Henry was born2. In fact, the only other male "I." Finnemore known to have lived in New Brunswick at that time was an Issac (note spelling) in another branch in Victoria County. Isaac and William would have been in their 30s at this time.
The County Birth Registers 1801-1899 for York County included the following entries:
Child | S | Year | Mo |
Dy | Mother | Father | Place | Co | CD | BK | Page | Num | FNUM |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
FINNAMORE, ADA | F | 1877 | 09 | 25 | CARR, ABIGAIL | FINNAMORE, WILLIAM | FREDERICTON | YO | 10 | 3 | 8 | 2261 | F14025 |
FINNAMORE, ALBERT THEODORE M. | M | 1879 | 01 | 12 | ----- | FINNAMORE, WILLIAM | FREDERICTON | YO | 10 | 2 | 194 | 1805 | F21000 |
FINNAMORE, ARTHUR | M | 1882 | 12 | 13 | CARR, ABIGAIL | FINNAMORE, WILLIAM | FREDERICTON | YO | 10 | 3 | 30 | 3313 | F14025 |
FINNAMORE, CHARLES AUGUSTUS | M | 1885 | 08 | 22 | LAWSON, SARAH MELISSA | FINNAMORE, CHARLES W. | HAWKSHAW | YO | 10 | 3 | 29 | 3246 | F14025 |
FINNAMORE, EDITH JANE | F | 1887 | 08 | 21 | LAWSON, SARAH MELISSA | FINNAMORE, CHARLES W. | BARONY | YO | 10 | 3 | 28 | 3213 | F14025 |
FINNAMORE, GEORGE ELLSWORTH | M | 1874 | 04 | 01 | CARR, ABIGAIL | FINNAMORE, WILLIAM | FREDERICTON | YO | 10 | 3 | 30 | 3313 | F14025 |
All but the last of the above is reconfirmed by these entries in the Late Registration of Births 1810-1905 in York County:
Child | Father | Mother | Year |
Mo-Dy | Place | Co | Code | Fnum | ||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
FINNAMORE, ADA | FINNAMORE, WILLIAM | CARR, ABIGAIL | 1877 | 09-25 | FREDERICTON | YO | 1877 | F | 13 | F18764 |
FINNAMORE, ALBERT THEODORE | FINNAMORE, WILLIAM | CARR, ABIGAIL | 1879 | 01-12 | FREDERICTON | YO | 1879 | F | 18 | F18766 |
FINNAMORE, ARTHUR | FINNAMORE, WILLIAM | CARR, ABIGAIL | 1882 | 12-13 | FREDERICTON | YO | 1882 | F | 14 | F18769 |
FINNAMORE, CHARLES AUGUSTUS | FINNAMORE, CHARLES WILLIAM | LAWSON, SARAH MELISSIA | 1885 | 08-22 | HAWKSHAW | YO | 1885 | F | 24 | F18772 |
FINNAMORE, EDITH JANE | FINNAMORE, CHARLES W. | LAWSEN, SARAH MELISSA | 1887 | 08-21 | BARONY | YO | 1887 | F | 22 | F18775 |
As a bonus, we get confirmation that Albert Theodore is the son of Charles and Elizabeth's son, William; and that Charles W.'s middle initial stands for William, not Ward.
A more general search of the New Brunswick Birth Records turned up two additional entries:
Child | S | Year | Mo |
Dy | Mother | Father | Place | Co | CD | BK | Page | Num | FNUM |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
FINNAMORE, ERNEST R. | M | 1899 | 09 | 19 | WHITE, ISABEL | FINNAMORE, RODERICK | WATERVILLE | CA | 11 | 1 | 70 | 25 | F14030 |
FINNAMORE, SUSAN EMMA | F | 1893 | 11 | 20 | LAWSON, SARAH MELISSA | FINNAMORE, CHARLES W. | WOODSTOCK | CA | 11 | 1 | 161 | 0 | F14030 |
In the Lovell Index, I found the following record:
Last Name | First Name | Occupation | Community |
Street | Parish | County |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Finnamore | Richard | Farmer | Marysville | - | St. Mary's | York |
This might be Richard, nephew of Charles and Elizabeth, cousin of Isaac. Edith stated that cousin Richard lived in Marysville6.
