page 2: The Goal
My goal is to lead the development of "Middle-earth music."
By that I mean two things:
Music that takes me away to Middle-earth in my imagination, that gives me the same feelings I get when I read Tolkien's Middle-earth literature. I refer to this type as "Middle-earth mood music." This is the easier of the two types to achieve; I have several of these pieces already written.
Music of any and all sorts that might "actually" be heard in Middle-earth. I refer to this as "the music of Middle-earth." A lot of study is necessary before embarking seriously on compositions of this type, though I have a few in rough draft stage.
